Project Summary

My artistic journey explores healing through art. This pilot serves as the first step in exploring that potential.

A hospital, like the desert, can be a place of isolation and uncertainty. We arrive without control or knowing what comes next. Quiet Terrain exists to sit alongside that experience. With respect for patients moving through treatment and recovery, this body of work is intentionally quiet.

I work with raw desert materials to create ground-like surfaces shaped by pressure and time, allowing the clay to crack naturally as it dries. The cracked surfaces record endurance rather than damage, reflecting how healing is not always comfortable.

At times, these surfaces give way to oases, a hydrated state of the desert where the ground holds water, offering relief and renewal within harsh conditions.

The desert always helped me slow down. Spending time there brings a sense of grounding, clarity, and calm. Through this exhibition, I bring those benefits into hospital spaces, offering a simple connection back to the earth.
